Frederick's military pension application is in the National Archives: File W477. In 1776 Frederick enlisted in Captain Henry Eckler’s militia company at 16. Helped to build Fort Stanwix in May 1777. Was at battle of Oriskany on 6 August 1777 where General Nicholas Herkimer was mortally wounded. Served under Captain Abraham Coopman and Major Joseph House at Fort Plank in the Spring of 1778. Served there and was called out from there for the rest of the war.

After the Revolution Frederick settled in the Otsquago settlement (present day town of Stark). When the town of Stark was formed in 1828 he was elected school commissioner.
