Irene M. (Lange) Spencer, 88, of North Kingstown passed away Monday, April 15, 2013. She was the wife of the late Philip G. Spencer Jr.
Born in Coventry, she was the daughter of the late Edward K. and Eva (L’Heureux) Lange.
After graduating from Roger Williams Hospital School of Nursing, Mrs. Spencer worked at Roger Williams Hospital. She then graduated from Columbia Graduate School of Nursing and worked at the New York Psychiatric Institute. She ended her nursing career working at South County Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
She was a prolific painter and was a lifetime member of the Wickford Art Association and had served as director of the association's art gallery. She was also an avid gardener and enjoyed traveling after retirement. She will be remembered as a beloved friend and good neighbor.
