The Cleveland Plain Dealer; June 12, 2012 Tuesday; BRONNER JUDITH STARR BATZER BRONNER (1934-2012), 77 years old, died June 10, 2012 at her home in Tequesta, Florida. Death was caused by cancer of the bladder which spread to other vital organs. Mrs. Bronner was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on 12 July 1934, the daughter of the late Russel and Vera Starr Batzer. She was a graduate with the class of 1952 at the Hathaway Brown School in Cleveland and the class of 1956 at Smith College. Following graduation, Judy pursued some Cleveland endeavors leading to a decision to storm the "creative bastions" of The Big Apple. Her "breakthrough" came when she was hired as a copywriter in the marketing department of Time Magazine. On February 19, 1965, Judy married her boss, Frederick V. Bronner. Company policy (at that time) dictated that one of the marriage celebrants had to leave the company. Judy volunteered to pursue that option and established a sales promotion and marketing company which she named 7/12 Productions Ltd. in honor of their mutual birthday. During the 1970s and 1980s, Judy built an amazing list of clients including Pan American Business Jets, National Geographic, Smithsonian, Money Magazine, Fortune, Air & Space, New York Magazine, and Sports Illustrated. In 1992, the George H. W. Bush administration had a devastating impact on sales promotion and marketing budgets. Judy and her husband soon concluded the time had come to sell out of Manhattan and pursue retirement in Florida. An exhausting search led to a gated community in Heritage Oaks, Tequesta, Florida. Judy and her husband soon became members of the Tequesta Country Club and the Heritage Oaks Racquet Club while she pursued an active role in the governance of The Heritage Oaks Homeowners Association. Surviving are her husband, Frederick; a son, Geoffrey Bronner of West Lebanon, New Hampshire; a sister, Lynne Batzer Klopf of Vicar's Landing, Ponte Vedre Beach, Florida; a foster-sister, Vivian Platek of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; three nieces and a nephew. A memorial service will be held in November and burial-at-sea will be performed in the future. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the American Cancer Society , the Jupiter Medical Center, or Treasure Coast Hospice are suggested.
