Frederick attended the Richfield Springs Seminary and was a member of the first class to be graduated from the Richfield Springs High School in 1889. He served fifteen years as Deputy Postmaster and then Postmaster of Richfield Springs (March 1906). He served as supervisor for the Town of Richfield, Otsego County in 1903. He was a correspondent for the New York Tribune, later the Herald-Tribune, and the Utica Daily Press. He acted as Secretary of the Richfield Springs Agricultural Society for twenty five years. His name appears on the roster of the Richfield Springs Volunteer Fire Department.
Frederick was a Master Mason for nearly fifty years. He was Master of Richfield Springs Lodge two years and Secretary of the lodge twenty five years. He was a Past High Priest of Richfield Springs Chapter, Royal Arch Masons and had served as Master of Ceremonies in the Grand Lodge of the State of New York. A member of the Aroutus Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, he was Patron of that chapter sixteen years.
Frederick and Grace are both descended from Elizabeth and Richard Warren (1580-1627) who crossed the Atlantic on the Mayflower.
Frederick appears in the 1880 census living with his mother and step-father.
