Misc. Notes
John Henry Starr’s death certificate from 1958 lists his father’s name as John Henry Starr also. His 1956 affadavit says his parents lived in NJ their whole lives.

A John H. Starr appears in Civil War records enlisting in the New Jersey 2nd Cavalry, Company H. on August 6, 1863. Mustered on Aug 12, 1863, and "deserted" Aug 25, 1863 at Trenton, New Jersey.

Unable to reliably locate John in the 1850, 1860 or 1870 census before he was married.

The first child was born 1873, were John and Lydia married before or after that? The 1880 census lists John, a laborer, (age 34) and Lydia (age 23) living in Mt. Olive, Morris County, New Jersey with five children: Julia (age 7), Mahlon (age 5), Mary (age 3), Hattie (age 2), Victoria (age 1). John, Lydia, their parents, and all of the children were born in New Jersey.

Lydia is a window in the 1900 census and may have been remaried to someone named Mohr by 1910.

A family tree published online connects John H. Starr to a US congressman named John Farson Starr but census records in 1850 and 1860 list his son born in 1846 as John F. Starr Jr. so this seems unlikely.
