Probably born in 1857 but maybe not, ages listed in 1900 and 1910 census would make 1859 more likely.

Appears in the 1900 census age 41 in NJ widowed and head of household liviing with 8 of the children and a six year old granddaughter named Eva M. Gray born in April 1894. Mamie is listed as having one living child. There is a marriage record for Mamie Starr and John W. Gray in Blairstown, NJ, on 18-Jul-1892. Mamie is listed as born August 1876 and 23 years old so is this Mary? Any why is she living with her mother under her maiden name in 1900?

Because the grandaughter appears above the names of the other Starr children in the 1900 census some automated systems list them incorrectly with the surname Gray in databases.

In the 1910 census a Thomas Starr who is the correct age for Thomas appears as a stepson in the household of Louis Mohr and his wife Lydia, age 50, alonfg with Eliza, Theodore, Clara, and Mabel Starr also listed as stepchildren to Mohr. Plus a Mahlon Mohr age 3 (adopted).

Louis Mohr, Lydia and Mahlon all appear again in the 1920 census. Thomas age 37 still living with them and incorrectly listed as a son, not stepson.
